Saint Teresa’s offers a number of extracurricular activities for students in grades 2 – 8.  Students are encouraged to participate in activities that interest them, to further their educational experiences.  The extra-curricular program strives to develop a well-rounded individual, with emphasis on responsibility, commitment and best personal effort.

Student Activities in Art and Music are Band, Cherub Choir, Joyful Noise Choir, and Chorus.

Musically inclined students can participate in a number of band activities.

Cherub Choir
Grades: 2 – 6
Moderator: Mr. Ted Rybka
Meets: Thursday
The Cherub Choir is a choral program for students in Grades 2 – 6.  Rehearsals are held on Thursday afternoons twice per month. The choir sings at the 10:00 AM Sunday Mass once per month and at special school liturgies throughout the year.

Joyful Noise Choir
Grades: 7 – 8
Moderator: Mr. Ted Rybka
Meets: Thursday
The Joyful Noise Ensemble consists of singers and musicians in Grades 7 – 8. (High school students in Grades 9 – 12 also participate.) Whether they sing or play an instrument, students receive service hours for participating. Rehearsals are held on Thursday afternoons twice per month. Joyful Noise leads the music at the 10:00 AM Sunday Mass once per month, and also for Christmas Eve, Easter Sunday, and the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Students may participate in the Chorus, with performances at Christmas and in the Spring.

Student Activities in Language are Forensics and Spelling Bees.

Grades: 6 – 8

The Forensics Club teaches students public speaking skills. Students compete in tournaments as individuals or as a team through the Southwestern Pennsylvania Forensics League.   For details, view the team’s website.

Spelling Bees
Grades: 4 – 8
Moderator: Ms. Susan Lindow
Meets: Monday (Gr. 6 – 8, First Semester), Tuesday (Gr. 4 – 6, Second Semester)
Members compete in school-wide spelling bees, with the winners representing the school in further competitions.

Student Activities in Math and Science are PJAS.

Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS)
Grades: 6 – 8
Moderator: Ms. Erica Seigneur
Meets: Wednesday and Thursday
Scientifically interested students may participate in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science. Using the scientific method, the students investigate a topic, conduct an experiment, and present the results in a juried setting.

Student Council
Grades: 5 – 8
Moderator: Mrs. Debbie Brungo
Meets: Thursday
Student Council focuses on leadership and service to others by organizing food drives and other school-wide projects.
