Weekly Newsletter November 2

Dear Saint Teresa of Avila Families,

Thank you for taking the time each week to read the mid-week EXTRA.  It is one of our attempts to keep you informed as are the many items on our school website.

PEANUT BUTTER/JELLY COLLECTION: A GRAND SUCCESS   Thanks to all who participated in last week’s collection.  One hundred and fifty jars of peanut butter and jelly were delivered to the Benedictine Sisters in Greene County and will be distributed to needy families.  In addition cash donations totaling $162.00 were received. Thank you so very much!

LEFT OVER  HALLOWEEN CANDY  The table for collecting candy for The Red Door is filling up and it’s not too late to donate until Friday, November 4.  Thanks for participating!

VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION On Friday, November 11, 2016, at 10:45, we will honor all Veterans with a special celebration.  If you or someone you know is a veteran, please let us know and we will include those names in our “remembrance of Veterans.”  What a wonderful way to increase our appreciation of those who serve our country.  This coming Friday, November 4 will be the last day to submit names for the celebration.

CONFERENCES First quarter conferences are November 8. Conference request forms were due to the office by October 21. Forms were emailed and are also posted on our website: SaintTeresas.org  (Note that there are no conferences for Prekindergarten this quarter.)

On conference day please arrive at least fifteen minutes before your scheduled conference.  When it is time for your conference please knock.

All conferences are limited to fifteen minutes.  If you need additional time, please make arrangements with the appropriate faculty member for another meeting.

LUNCH RECESS VOLUNTEERS  The group of volunteers who help to supervise our students at recess is growing.  We could still use several more adults on Thursdays and Fridays.  Sign up on the parent section of our school’s website.  All clearances are needed. When we do not have enough adults students generally have to remain in the cafeteria for the whole lunch period.

CRAFT SHOW  St. Teresa’s craft show is right around the corner on November 5th!   It is a great event that engages the community while serving as a fundraiser for assemblies, field trips and other things our students enjoy.    To make this a successful event, we will need the help of the St. Teresa family.  Please consider donating your time or some goodies for the concession stand to sell.   Sign up at https://signup.com/Group/58693911203/   We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

NIGHT AT THE RACES  Please return your reservation form as soon as possible for one of the biggest nights of the year.  You’re not too late!  Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night, November 12, and $20.00 gives you unlimited hors d’oeuvres, finger food and drink.  See the web for further details.

OPTION C  Please be certain to check your child’s progress using OptionC.  This is another wonderful way to talk to your children about what is going on in their various classes!

FINANCIAL INFORMATION: Recent Donations    A check has been received from The Pittsburgh Foundation for gifts donated on The Day of Giving.  Gifts and matches totaled $1,165.65  In addition, gifts to The Second Century Fund continue to be received.  As of this writing, we have received $8244.00 from  42 very generous donors.  All donations are part of the $200,000 fundraising goal for our 111th year.

PRAYER REQUESTS  Please remember in your prayers the paternal  grandfather of  Kayla  Kenna who died recently and for the maternal grandmother of Sydney Very who is ill.

May each of your days be filled with all that is good!

Blessings always,
